Alexander K asked:

I just bought a beautiful 23″ LG w2353v to use as an external monitor for my MacBook, and I was wondering if I could ditch my old 20″ CRT TV and use the LG as a TV as well. It has a VGA, DVI-D and HDMI input. I originally thought that I could run a DVI or HDMI cable from my Comcast digital cable box, but it turns out my cable box only has a coax output.

So I have two questions. The first is, would I be able to upgrade my cable box through Comcast to get one with a DVI or HDMI output, and if so would it cost much? The second question is, if it wouldn’t be easy to get a new cable box from Comcast, is there another way I could hook up my existing cable box to my monitor for relatively cheap?

Thanks in advance.

Sam

★j▒O▒s▒H★▒:D▒★ARSENAL!★ asked:

Both TV’s are HD and are the same size but the 20bucks apart in price. So im just wondering which would be better its going in my room so it will mostly be used for my Xbox Elite i wont watch Sky that much on it because we have another box downstairs both TV’s are LCD. Okay specifictions:

This 1 is the TV 20pounds cheaper:
FULL HD
1920 X 1080 (resolution)
HDMI socket
Contrast Ratio 1000:1
Digital Tuner Yes
Flat screen
Picture Frequency 50Hz
LCD
SCART SOCKETS 1

This 1 is 20pounds extra:
HD Ready
1680×1050
HDMI socket
Contrast Ratio 700:1
Digital Tuner
Flat screen
Picture Frequency 50Hz
LCD
SCART SOCKETS 1

By the way what are Scart Sockets. Both dont specify whether it has the RGB input the 3 yellow white and red wires you plug in. But i pressume it has it because its LCD. Both TV’s are 22″ not too big just to go in my room. And the one above is £165.99 and the other is £189.99 so its actually 24 pounds extra.

So which is better for my Xbox 360 elite the first has a higher resolution higher contrast ratio (good or bad) and is Full HD its also cheaper the other is HD ready has a lower resoultion contrast ratio and is more expensive. So which is better bear in mind its mainly just for my Xbox Elite.

So which is better the second is obviously more expensive for something but what is it? And is it worth paying an extra 25 pounds for it when the cheaper one has higher specifications?
Thanks so much for the help your answer really helped i had already made my mind up to get TV1 just wanted to run it by you guys just to make sure it was the right choice since you guys already have elites.

O and yh TV1 has a HDMI port and my elite came with a HDMI cable so ill just use that to hook my elite to my new TV to get maximum viewing quality instead of using the RGB port.

Thanks!

Chris
