Which HDTV specifiacations are best suited for my gaming console? Help? Both LCD HDTV?
Both TV’s are HD and are the same size but the 20bucks apart in price. So im just wondering which would be better its going in my room so it will mostly be used for my Xbox Elite i wont watch Sky that much on it because we have another box downstairs both TV’s are LCD. Okay specifictions:
This 1 is the TV 20pounds cheaper:
FULL HD
1920 X 1080 (resolution)
HDMI socket
Contrast Ratio 1000:1
Digital Tuner Yes
Flat screen
Picture Frequency 50Hz
LCD
SCART SOCKETS 1
This 1 is 20pounds extra:
HD Ready
1680×1050
HDMI socket
Contrast Ratio 700:1
Digital Tuner
Flat screen
Picture Frequency 50Hz
LCD
SCART SOCKETS 1
By the way what are Scart Sockets. Both dont specify whether it has the RGB input the 3 yellow white and red wires you plug in. But i pressume it has it because its LCD. Both TV’s are 22″ not too big just to go in my room. And the one above is £165.99 and the other is £189.99 so its actually 24 pounds extra.
So which is better for my Xbox 360 elite the first has a higher resolution higher contrast ratio (good or bad) and is Full HD its also cheaper the other is HD ready has a lower resoultion contrast ratio and is more expensive. So which is better bear in mind its mainly just for my Xbox Elite.
So which is better the second is obviously more expensive for something but what is it? And is it worth paying an extra 25 pounds for it when the cheaper one has higher specifications?
Thanks so much for the help your answer really helped i had already made my mind up to get TV1 just wanted to run it by you guys just to make sure it was the right choice since you guys already have elites.
O and yh TV1 has a HDMI port and my elite came with a HDMI cable so ill just use that to hook my elite to my new TV to get maximum viewing quality instead of using the RGB port.
Thanks!

Are the TVs the same brand? If not, don’t even bother looking at contrast ratio. The contast ratio is specific to each brand so a higher ratio on one Samsung TV to another is important, but a higher ratio on a Samsung to a SONY is not a decision making factor.
I’d go with the full HD version just because if you’re shelling out money for a new TV, why not get the full HD now. Less than 200 isn’t all that much money anyhow. I have an Xbox Elite (sort of. Its the Halo version so its based on the Elite) and use an HDMI on my 52″ full HD LCD. Most games on Xbox are in 720p and not full HD but is subject to change which may allow the 1080i in future games. Won’t get 1080p out of the Xbox otherwise it would play HD DVDs on its own w/o the now obsolete additional drive.
Honestly, the best deciding factor is to see both TVs in action at the store. If not possible, buy one, take it home and try it out. If you’re not happy, the store should have a return policy and give you no trouble, especially if you’re swapping it out for the other TV. Hope that helps some.
Oh and be prepared to buy a separate HDMI cable. Most TVs don’t come with one.
SCART is a French-originated standard and associated 21-pin connector for connecting audio-visual (AV) equipment together. I live in USA so not familiar with it. I just wikipediaed it. If you’re only using it for the Xbox, I’d disregard whatever this SCART thing is since you’ll be using HDMI which transmits your audio and video.
